The BEST Polish GOOSE DOWN with … the BEST Japanese PERTEX fabric
Designed for 3 to 4 season trekking, summer Alpinism, ultralight backpacking and adventure racing.
With a comfort temperature rating of -10°C, this bag is suitable for camping during most of the year in the UK.
Its weight is 800 grams, so is lightweight, helping to keep your pack weight down.
It is made using a Pertex Quantum (35gms/m²) ripstop shell filled with 450g of 870 FP Polish Goose down.
Trapezoid construction eliminates cold spots enabling a comfortable night’s sleep.
An integrated zip and neck baffle helps to keep drafts out and body heat in, whilst 2-way YKK zips enable venting if you do start to overheat.
A DWR coated shell helps protect the down from any dampness that may occur in your tent, from condensation or wet gear.
When in its stuff sack, the pack size is 15 x 15 x 30 cm which will still leave plenty of room in your rucksack.
Criterion sleeping bags contain only Polish goose down, whose source is the non-polluted region of forests, lakes and beautiful, natural landscapes of North Eastern Poland.
This is a particularly cold part of Poland, suffering long winter weeks of arctic air with temperatures once reaching as low as -36°C
It is to combat such severe conditions that the geese, whose natural habitat has been this region for thousands of years, have evolved their protective down to a quality which is unmatched anywhere, both for heat retention and for durability.

Differential fill, 60% of the down is on the top, 40% on the bottom
Differential Cut, this is a manufacturing technique by which the outer surface of the top side of the sleeping bag is wider than lower (inside) surface.
This helps the down to expand outwards from the centrally located body position thus facilitating optimum lofting
Box foot - comfortable, trapezium shape, for all feet positions ,
Cowl hood with one hand operated drawcordInsulated neck baffle with velcro fastener and elasticated, one hand operated drawcord
Full length, two-way YKK zip plus velcro fastener
Anti-snag, full length zip baffle, down-filled to prevent cold spots
Inside pocket and hanging loops
Supplied with compact, fully-featured stuff sack and breathable, mesh storage bag
The Criterion stuff sack is specially designed for easy, one handed stuffing.
It has just the right diameter to enable the sleeping bag to be inserted one handed without it being able to “escape”.
Finally, when it is all in and you want to withdraw your hand without letting the sleeping bag spring out, a One-Handed pull on the draw cord is all that is necessary to close the neck and complete the job.
That is due to having the drawcord toggle permenantly fixed to the side of the stuff sack.
When not in use Down sleeping bags should NOT be left in their stuff sacks under compression. That will reduce their lofting ability.
For storage, therefore, they are supplied with a Criterion storage bag
The Trapezoid baffle design provides a balance between the simplicity of Boxwall Baffles and the thermal efficiency of V Baffles.
Trapezoid Baffles are more thermally efficient than Boxwall ones because there are more chambers to store the down and less chance of it dispersing.
For the same amount of down there is normally a 2 to 3°C temperature difference between Boxwall and Trapezoid methods of construction.
Integrated Zip and Neck Baffle
Used exclusively in the Quantum range, a full-length baffle runs the length of the zip and covers the neck.
The baffle is made with Pertex Quantum 35g/m² fabric and 870FP Diamond Grade Down.
This is an ideal combination for an ultra lightweight bag, saving weight whilst providing insulation.
Criterion Range Temperature Ratings
All of the Criterion models in the table below have been independently tested for warmth by Leeds University Performance Clothing Research Group
The results for all of the Criterion models were at least as good as stated – and were better in most cases
To get to their stated temperature ratings the sleeping bags have been tested, to British Standard BS 4745 and ISO 5087-1, by the
University of Leeds’ Performance Clothing Research Group. These tests gave both a TOG rating which you would be familiar with whe buying a bed duvet as well as a specific temp in °C.
This is a starting point as laboratory tests are controlled environments, the mannequins do not move or sweat.
Through product testing, expeditions and tester feedback Criterion have refined the labratory ratings to the ones advertised for the sleeping bags.
In cases where they have changed the tested rating the temperature has been reduced to be more cautionary and safer
