Winter is almost over. You know what that means? The daffodils are blooming, the easter eggs are already on the shelves at Tesco, the trees are green and the weather is improving. Want some inspiration to get your kids out of the house and have some fun? We’ve compiled a list of outdoor activities to bring your family together during the springtime.

  • Gardening
  • Hiking
  • Bike rides
  • Bird watching
  • Camping
  • Stargazing
  • Go for a picnic
  • Playing in the spring showers (jumping in muddy puddles isn’t just fun for the kids you know!)
  • Outdoor tea parties
  • Digging for worms
  • Visiting flower fields; our personal favourites are tulip fields and sunflower fields!
  • Go fishing
  • Kite flying

  • Make perfumes or potions with flowers; I used to love doing this as a kid and then have my mum lie and tell me the perfume smells nice!

  • Explore some ponds
  • Egg hunts; a classic activity to celebrate easter
  • Making flower crowns or daisy chains
  • Bubble blowing; this is even more fun if you have a dog with you. They just love catching the bubbles in their mouths
  • Start a compost bin
  • Grow your own fruit and veg
  • Go to the local park
  • Make wind chimes
  • Make natural confetti; flower petals are biodegradable AND they smell nice!
  • Hunting for mushrooms
  • Look for four leaf clovers; something I did a lot as a child but never actually succeeded in.
  • Build a bird house
  • Fruit picking; strawberry picking is particularly popular during the springtime.
  • Hopscotch
  • Visit a farm
  • Tree climbing
  • Look for frog spawn
